Climate Visuals Principles:
1. Show real people not staged photo-ops, 2. Tell new stories, 3. Show climate causes at scale, 8. Sustainability must be everyones objective
Since the beginning of oil production in Nigeria, leaks, spills and sabotage splashed oil throughout the Niger Delta destroying fisheries and farms of local people. Environmental grievances are met with force and intimidation as fisherfolks, farmers and small minorities continue to lose their traditional means of livelihoods. In 1992 the United Nations declared the Niger Delta to be the world's most ecologically endangered delta as a result of crude oil exploration and exploitation. The facilities of the multinational companies result in the degradation of the mangrove habitat following the discharge of drill cuttings and drilling wastes, accidental oil spills and leaks, and ballast water into the environment.
Several oil servicing companies that deal on drilling chemicals and radiographic materials discharge untreated effluent wastes through drains and eventually into the mangrove environment. These chemical compounds meander into the mangrove environment where they impact adversely on the biological resources.

I am a documentary photographer with scores of published works including Garden City Games (2011), Rivers Of Possibilities (2013 and 2014), and Chukkers: Nigeria Polo Illustrated (2013).
In March 2021 my latest work MAN AND MANGROVES: AN ENVIRONMENTAL AWAKENING was published. The book narrates the beauty, resources and vulnerability of the Nigeria Mangrove Ecosystems and Man’s interaction with the environment. It is one of my long term projects spanning over a period of 10 years. The aim of the documentary is to use photography to raise awareness about the Mangrove environment and to engender eco-friendliness.
The project birthed MANGROVE MARATHON (10km Awareness Run) and the #SaveNigeriaMangroves Campaign.
