Refugees in Budapest
The causes of the Syrian civil war are multiple and complex, but there is evidence that a powerful climate-linked drought forced people into cities creating the conditions of the initial uprising. Many Syrian refugees travelled through Hungary as they fled. The scene powerfully illustrates how people are affected when climate change impacts combine with other factors - in this case conflict - to have a devastating affect on people by forcing them to leave their homes.
