Our research suggests that images of climate impacts should have identifiable individuals foregrounded in them to be most effective. An image similar to this attracted a great deal of attention and sympathy in our discussion groups.

WHAT IT SHOWS: 60 year old Korlabe village chief, Idle Kasow, struggles in flood water. The village had to be abandoned after the Tana River burst its banks. Torrential rain throughout Kenya during the rainy season caused widespread flooding, leaving 94 people dead and displacing over 76,000.
