WHAT IT SHOWS: Research Scientist, Bark Beetle Ecology Kathy Bleiker of the Canadian Forest Service and Field Technician Gurp Thandi collect mountain pine beetles at a research site near Grande Prairie, Alberta. They are able to determine how many beetles are infesting a section of the tree, and how many survive the winter and emerge the following year.
