WHAT IT SHOWS: There are several underground coal mines In Bulgaria still operational. Coals are being used to generate electricity in the power stations nearby the mine. The coal provides almost 100 of the national electricity demands of Bulgaria. Most mines are privatised. Working conditions are hard in the mines. Workers descent up to 700 meter underground. It is dangerous as the safety regulations are not taken very seriously. Workers have wages between 200 to 400 euros per month. Most of them die young before 50 due to long diseases.
