WHAT IT SHOWS: European Union Commissioners Georgieva (International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response) Hedegaard (Climate Action) and Ciolos (Agriculture and Rural Development) on a visit to Siti Zone, Somali Region, Ethiopia. The European Commission's Humanitarian aid and Civil Protection Department (ECHO) funds resilience building activities to combat climate change - recurrent more frequent and more intense droughts. Siti Zone was affected by the 2011 drought which affected the pastoral and agro pastoral communities in the area. The communities run, with the support of ECHO, initiatives that aim to mitigate the impact of future droughts and build the resilience of communities themselves.
