
A substantial body of evidence has shown that difference in views about climate change are driven by people’s political beliefs and ‘worldviews.’ Our research showed images of ‘distant’ climate impacts produced much flatter emotional responses among those on the political right. Images grounded in notions of ‘efficiency and productivity’ are ideas that fit easily with a conservative mindset - and therefore maybe more engaging from a rightwing perspective.

Extention of Keystone pipeline in the US has become a political issue over big business trying to get oil from Canada to refineries in Texas and environmentalists worried about oil spills.
