Flooding in Padmapukur
The unstoppable power of storms and flooding in Bangladesh is illustrated in this image. Pictures that include individuals affected by serious climate ‘impacts’ are likely to be emotionally powerful, although without a clear instruction for the viewer on how to 'act' on their emotional engagement, the overall effect can be overwhelming.

WHAT IT SHOWS: BANGLADESH. Padmapukur. 2009. On the 'char' (silt island) of Padmapukur, in the Ganges delta. Hurricane Aila destroyed the dikes, thus causing daily flooding of the communities. Most of the villagers now live in makeshift huts and tents on the dikes, while their home and villages are flooded.
